Uke-Werk

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain on its ongoing rolling world tour, has performed in Germany many times, generating enthusiastic responses, standing ovations and roaring, appreciative audience reactions.
Now it has a new CD, recorded LIVE in Germany (with 2 bonus studio tracks).

The foot-stomping, crowd-pleasing, genre-busting show which audiences love, is here in its latest incarnation. You'll hear the audience responses as the Ukes blaze their way through their toe-tapping, all-singing, all-plucking "obituary of rock & roll and melodious light entertainment".

There are cover songs in English, such as Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" given a rootsy rocking rendition, and "Rolling in the Deep" (Adele) in an intense uke-orchestral-arrangement tour-de-force, and songs in German, such as "Das Modell", (Kraftwerk) given the acousto-pop minimalist driving rhythm treatment, "Die Forelle", (Schubert) and "König von Deutschland", (Rio Reiser), which features electric ukulele.

There are also instrumentals (Scottish Jimmy Shand's "Bluebell Polka", German Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F" from "Beverly Hills Cop"), original songs (Vertigo and Greener), and songs made famous by Junior Walker, Black Sabbath, Dolly Parton, David Bowie, Prince and Henry Hall from the 1920s.

This CD will have plenty to interest every Ukulele Orchestra fan, while demonstrating significant German connections. Early on, the Ukes of GB played to sold out houses in Hamburg, just like the Beatles!
